Biographies

Optimum is a UK based family group consisting of two brothers, Jonathan and Paulo Ndawula.

They and their father Emmanuel Ndawula write their own material. The two brothers started composing songs when they were quite young, Paulo at 13 and Jonathan at 16. They have a range of styles in their repertoire including pop,reggae, soul, easy listening, ballards, dance and R&B. Upon listening to the free samples, people will discover their very distinctive style. The features of the songs include meaningful lyrics, uplifting messages, complex relationships, romance, love, frustration, inspiration and motivation among others.

Optimum released two albums initially. The first was a double album called ‘Everything’ and the second was ‘You’ve Got To Be Positive’ (perfomed and produced by Jonathan and Emmanuel).

They promoted their music through various avenues. Jonathan performed live gigs in Canterbury and London. In 1999, Paulo presented a Children’s program for the BBC World Service called ‘Artbeat’ in which his songs were played.
